The opulence of silk lamé perfectly embodies the decadence of the 1920s. At 21st Century Vamp we have a unique and breathtaking selection of lamé pieces in gold, silver, florals and prints.

There is a timeless allure to these metallic flapper dresses. They sparkle and catch the light beautifully with their real metal threads.

The quality of the textiles and the attention to detail in their creation are unsurpassed and only equalled by high end couture houses today. Unique luxury.

1920s Flapper Dress in Butterfly Print Gold Lamé

One of the more unusual pieces is this rare 1930s, labelled Harvey Nichols gown. Made from an exceptional printed and woven chiffon lamé, with gold lamé lace cuffs, and wired stand-up collar. Other design details to note are the ruched and gathered hips and the numerous covered buttons. It would make a gorgeous vintage wedding dress.

Rare Vintage. Marcelle Alix.

Once in a while you find what can only be described as a dream dress. Labelled Marcelle Alix gowns are a true rarity. Marcelle Alix Couture traces its roots back to Germaine Émilie Krebs, otherwise known as Madame Grès, renowned for her fabulous draped and pleated grecian gowns.

RARE Marcelle Alix Couture, labelled gown. Circa 1940s
This gown is a true reflection of the design style of Grès. Marcelle Alix produced collections that were influenced by that magical touch, with the use of yards of jersey fabric, intricately pleated and draped. This gown has numerous hooks and eyes, and press studs to secure and wrap the gown about the wearer.

1920s Flapper Dress ~ the quintessential style

With 1920s fashion one immediately thinks of the Flapper, The Great Gatsby, Louise Brooks, Zelda Fitzgerald and the Bright Young Things. They defined an era. It was an era of youth and opulence. Wild parties, short skirts, bobbed hair, and dancing. Lots of dancing.

One of our luxurious flapper dresses particularly sums up the era. Sparkling sequins, the finest workmanship, and swirling movement in the patterns and design of the dress. Beautiful bias cut, arched panels provide full swish and flow in the skirt, for dancing away the night.

1920s Beaded Evening Dress with Trompe L'oeil floral beadwork.

A collectors dream

The exquisite trompe l'oeil beadwork of flowers, leaves and vines, is truly breathtaking, with the flowers highlighted in beads and pearls. Quite an oriental look to the floral patterns. The body of the dress is decorated in alternating, tight rows of sequins and beads to add subtle sparkle with every movement. The plunging, illusion neckline bordered in multi coloured beaded bands, creates dramatic focus. This is wearable art at its finest.
